I like the new interface. A lot of improvements. However, I can no longer swipe a bird on my LifeList to see relevant checklists. Thankfully, I figured out how to do this in the eBird app, though not as convenient. Screen rotation would be a helpful feature so I can hold my phone upside down to point the microphone forward. P.S. the Cancel button no longer works reliably. I sometimes have to press it 5 or 6 times to cancel a recording.

I love the Merlin app. When it was created it changed radically my way of birding. It's so easy to ID birds and it's even more useful when you travel and you're not familiar with those species I just wish the app would give the option of reading the names in more than one language at the same time, or even the scientific names plus the names in English and another language. When I travel to visit my family abroad and we go birding, I wish I could talk to them using the birds' names in Spanish.

Big disappointment. I was able to use Merlin to ID birds in my area initially. Hundreds of birds; believe I'm near a migration route. ed the entire data set for the USA, went on my trip never to pick up a bird, even if was directly in front of me and I was in wifi. Doesn't work at home anymore. Uninstalled the app n files to reinstall with no success. Such a disappointment.

Merlin has been a great help in IDing birds. While I prefer ebird for actually reporting the birds, Merlin is great for getting vocal or visual identifications. I also really like the addition of Bird of the Day, it's a fun little thing to go looking for a specific bird if you want to. I also love the Life List. The main reason it's 4 and not 5 stars is that the vocal ID, whike great, sometimes fails to ID or can misidentify birds, so hopefully it continues to improve

Nice app but a lot of bugs - I don't see the point of naming locations. To have the option, sure, but I HAVE TO do it every time I select location if a recording on a map. Second: I make a recording of a bird but I still have to manually add it to my life list. Also the import is buggy - most of the time the app just keeps "identifying" and nothing happens. What also keeps happening is that I add a new lifer, go to my life list and the bird I just added disappears and I have to do it again!

This app is amazing! I'll be out for a walk and ask it to listen for birds, and it will pick out more birds than I noticed. It shows me really good pictures of them, and then, as each bird vocalizes, it highlights that bird, helping me pick each one out. It starts up fast and identifies fast. Make sure you your database before going somewhere remote. Set up an so you can save your birds. Perfect!

I really like this app and use it all the time to learn what birds are in the area and I listen to sound clips to try to help me manually identify birds. There is a big problem though; the actual sound ID feature. It never works properly for me. I have all the bird packs relevant to my area, but it only ever IDs introduced species like Sparrows and Blackbirds. If it picks up the slightest hint of a Sparrow call, it disregards all other calls in my sound clip and focuses on the Sparrow.

Really frustrated with the Merlin App right now. The pack of Likely Birds doesn't contain some of the birds I'm seeing, even though the map shows they could be here. So I select a larger pack that includes this area, but now the THIS IS MY BIRD green button is gone, and I can't add the bird to my Life List. At this point the app feels useless. Update: I discovered that when I changed the Setting from Likely Birds "Today" to "Year Around" that the green "This is My Bird" button appeared again.🥳
