Will only let you add Photos or videos. The desktop version allows any type of file, but this Android app will only let you choose Photos or Videos after hitting the add button. Want to a pdf or a log? Forget about it. Want to a xls? Again nope. App was updated removing features not increasing. Still no option for adding any file on phone. Changed 1 star for 3 bc now you can map it as a network drive.

App is very basic. For some reason, gesture navigation does not work when within the app. Basic function is decent but missing some informative file features that exist on standard file/media productivity apps. Example, status bar of or is not in the app. And the name of the file you are viewing while in the file/viewing that media. Chromecast is included and works well.

App crashes every time I open it. Update 9/3/24 Recent updates fixed the crashes. App functions as designed now. It's a little "clunky" fumbling through the file system, and needing to save files to your cloud drive in order to open them with the app is disappointing. Overall it backs up photos from the phone and gives access to saved files. Gets the job of getting away from 3rd party cloud storage done.

The point of a drive like this is to 1. Automatically back up files, which it does not do most of the time 2. Allow access to files throughout multiple devices, which is extremely limited Improvements I would like to see 1. Flawless interaction with all file types. If I make changes to a file, it should save automatically. 2. Allow photos to be printed directly from the app 3. Should act more like a hard drive, less like software, especially when accessing from a laptop.

Definitely wish it would sync files with correct dates instead of relabeling them as being taken yesterday when they were taken 9 years ago so there totally out of place at the top of your list in your main folder. Also wish it would tell you the total number of files and tell you if there is a duplicate so you don't a file 2 times. Verizon let's you know right away that you have have a duplicate file are you sure you want to replace it? That's what WD needs so you know what you have

I loved the idea of this hard drive and I really wish it worked. If all you are looking for is a network drive than the My Cloud Home is a glorified solution - you can easily plug a normal (much cheaper) HDD into your router's USB port. But the APP. THE APP! This app is SO terrible, I don't understand how such a big company could hire such a poor app designer. NO flexibility what so ever. The one thing the app COULD do (automatically backup pictures) only worked half the time. The point of having a backup system is to be assured that your files are SAFE - instead you have to constantly worry and check that your files are backed up. I'm just lucky I bought a protection plan on the hard drive from Bestbuy, I was able to easily exchange it for store credit under the non-functional policy. WD should be ashamed of this product.

This app is so deflating! There is not a lot of organizing functionality within the app and lately over the past three months the app has been consistently crashing and refusing to open. Can't believe a company with name brand recognition like WD put this out there for consumption. Just uninstalled and reinstalled it a few moments ago and now it won't even open.

What is wrong here? WD 'depricates' (eliminates) the photo editing feature on the Android app, why? On the heels of the worst of its sins, eliminating the WD Discovery program for PCs, which integrated McCloud Home as a virtual drive, which allowed Windows to sync to it remotely and easily. Like OneDrive and Google Drive et al.'s desktop apps. WELL NOW SOL. Cause now you will have to use the web app or some emulator to manually drag and drop files between the drive and a PC. No Sync! BAD!
