pretty fun so far (day 2) however some features don't work such as when I'm trying to trace the Japanese letter for "o" I swear I'm doing it correctly but the system doesn't it. Also, the UI is cute but takes some getting used to- I am using Duolingo at the same time and it has been easier to start on there. However this app has a 1-time purchase for lifetime access, which seems more worth it.

The Good: Shibi is adorable and I love the trophies! Cute app, generally nice UI. Introduces kanji and grammar concepts much quicker than Duolingo. Pro version is reasonably priced and you get it for life. The Bad: Trophies are glitchy; ex: tells me I got the Alphabet Master trophy but won't let me claim it. Voice recognition has gotten better but can still be iffy. The Ugly: The Engrish!! PLEASE have a native English speaker proofread! Many translations are awkward or flat out wrong.

Great app. I even paid for the version. However, it has a very annoying bug that I will change my review once fixed. Sometimes, you will finish a lesson and it won't unlock the next lesson. I've had to do the same lesson multiple times and its getting very annoying. However, as far as apps I have used, it is the best. Please fix this bug.

I enjoy this app since it's definitely better than Duolingo and I can use it to study while at work, but I hate that I can't skip the audio segments, or remove them temporarily like in Duolingo. It's especially frustrating since they have an option to disable lesson audio, but it's worthless because it doesn't actually remove the listening portions, and you're still expected to complete them despite no audio playing. Poor planning. They should really try to accommodate people who can't listen.

This was a enjoyable experience for the most part, but I found it really annoying when it put up a pay wall. I am fine with ads as I don't have much money to pay for a app but I got only threw the first part before it started asking me to pay. The customer service I ran into was more pressuring me to pay for the app then looking to fix or listen it any problems I had with the app. This added to the frustration. It would be a ok app but I feel they only care about money with their interactions.

Decent app for learning Japanese, but know this. After the beginner and early lessons it becomes quite apparent that this app was not created by people with a firm grasp on English. Sometimes the English translations are bizarre or in the wrong tense. There are many typos in the explanation pages for words and phrases. All that said, You can still learn Japanese but I wouldn't rely on this app alone.

The app nags you to rate it after every lesson. The menu isn't removed even after you've purchased . The app is so desperate for you to rate it five stars it tries to bribe you by offering "achievements" for doing so. The app lists the rate menu three times in the settings menu, that's how desperate they are for a rating. You can increase font size but if you do this causes the furigana to overlap with kanji. No kanji replay or erase for writing practice in lesson history.

Interrupting ads break my focus and disturb the learning process. Ui is too slow and clunky. Terrible free experience just from the ads alone so I'd never buy the just on that. Next time have non intrusive ads on a sidebar in the hub menu or something. This is unacceptable in the current year and I refuse to have apps on my phone that have pop up ads like these.
